This story well illustates the mechanism of Korean urban renewal policy - how it works and what issues are embedded. The government, i.e. the planning, lays out a favorable condition for the developers for assembling properties for larger development that are intended by the city renewal plan. There emerges social issues such as renter compensation on this planned gentrification process.
