Economic Recession, Credit Crunch and Urban Regeneration





Dr. Shinwon Kyung, formerly at University of Birminham, now Urban Institute in Washington D.C., has proposed to form an international reserach network to examine the recent change of each country's urban regeneration policy vis-a-vis credit crunch and economic recession culminated by the collapse of mortgage lending system in US two years ago. While Western countries has been struggling to escape the crisis, Korea seems to have only a minor damage as it resumes the high rate of growth. There emerges however some signs of malfunction in finanical aspect of houing, urban development and regional economic development.
